Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar addressed the United Nations and led a historic global meditation to mark World Meditation Day. From New York City, millions of people across 150 countries joined a live, synchronized meditation, making it one of the largest meditation events ever. Speaking at the UN on December 19, Gurudev highlighted how meditation helps reduce stress, build emotional strength, and promote peace across nations. December 21 is now officially recognized by the United Nations as World Meditation Day, showing the growing global focus on inner peace and wellbeing.
During the celebrations in New York, Gallup announced a major partnership with The Art of Living Foundation to study meditation and wellbeing worldwide. This research will include meditation-related questions in Gallupβs World Poll, which surveys people in over 140 countries. The first global report from this study will be released on World Meditation Day in December 2026 and is expected to help governments, leaders, and communities better understand how meditation improves mental health and overall wellbeing.
