Indian Railways (IR) is set to launch an additional Vande Bharat Express train for Rajasthan. This new semi-high-speed service will be managed and operated by the North Western Railway (NWR) zone. It aims to enhance regional connectivity within the state and stimulate economic growth. Rajasthan received its inaugural Vande Bharat Express train connecting Ajmer and Delhi, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 12, 2023. The Ajmer-Delhi Cantt. Vande Bharat Express is also recognized as the world’s first semi-high-speed passenger train operating on high-rise overhead electric (OHE) infrastructure. This train has significantly improved access to key tourist attractions in the state, including Pushkar and Ajmer Sharif Dargah. Currently, there are four pairs of Vande Bharat Express trains in operation within the state. The railways have plans to introduce a new Vande Bharat Express train on the Jodhpur-Delhi route. This upcoming service is anticipated to cut travel time by over an hour between the two locations.
