Success of the first train-launched missile test, capable of striking targets 2,000 km away

The Agni Prime missile, which marked its inaugural launch from a train in the country, was successfully tested. According to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, this missile is capable of striking and destroying targets at a range of approximately 2,000 km. The indigenous Agni missiles, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), have been operational since 2011. DRDO is persistently working on the design of next-generation missiles. Agni – Prime stands as one of India’s most significant intercontinental ballistic missiles, boasting a range of up to 5,000 km. In this context, the Agni – Prime missile, which can engage targets at a distance of 2,000 km, was tested by the DRDO last night using a specially designed train. Following the successful test, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended his congratulations to DRDO and the security forces. Rajnath Singh shared on his X website; Congratulations to DRDO, Strategic Forces Command, and the armed forces for the successful test firing of the intermediate-range Agni-Prime missile. He remarked that with this successful test, India has joined the ranks of a select few countries possessing a canisterized launch system for missile deployment from trains.
