As Maha Shivaratri draws near, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has contributed his voice to a devotional song honoring Lord Shiva. The track, titled “Mahakal Chalo,” features Akshay in collaboration with singer Palash Sen, with lyrics crafted by Shekhar Astitwa and a musical composition by Vikram Montrose. In a post on Instagram, Akshay expressed his sentiments about the song, stating, “Shiv Bhakti mein ek aur kadam, Mahakal Chalo! I hope that the divine experience I felt while singing resonates with you as well. #MahakalChalo, song out now.” Maha Shivaratri is set to be observed on February 26. However, the Priests Association has raised concerns, accusing the actor of disrespecting Sanatan dharma. The association’s president, Mahesh Sharma, commented on the matter, stating, “In the song, the film actor is embracing the Shivling and undergoing panchamrit abhishek, which is inappropriate. Additionally, Bhasma is being offered, which is exclusively done for Ujjain Mahakal, not elsewhere. It is unacceptable to create such representations on a film set and disrespect Sanatan.”
