Sponsoring the Indian cricket team is poised to become more expensive, with the BCCI increasing the fee to Rs 3.5 crore per match for bilateral series and Rs 1.5 crore for games in multilateral events. According to Cricbuzz, these amounts will be applicable in competitions that are sanctioned and organized by the ICC and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Citing industry sources, the report noted that these figures are marginally higher than the existing rates of Rs 3.17 crore for bilateral matches and Rs 1.12 crore for multilateral contests. This development follows Dream11’s withdrawal as the jersey sponsor, a decision prompted by the government’s Online Gaming Act, 2025.In light of the government’s recent Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, the BCCI swiftly terminated the contract with Dream11, the lead sponsor of the Indian team. This change will take effect only after the conclusion of the upcoming Asia Cup, and the BCCI could potentially generate over 400 crore rupees, although the final amount may exceed this depending on the results of the bidding process. On Tuesday, the BCCI called for bids for the title sponsorship rights of the Indian team following the exit of fantasy sports leader Dream11. The board has prohibited companies involved in real money gaming and cryptocurrency from participating in the bidding due to a government ban on such entities. As the Asia Cup commences on September 9 in the UAE, the Indian team will be without a title sponsor, with the Board setting September 16 as the deadline for bid submissions. Dream11 recently ceased its real money gaming operations in response to the ‘Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025’, which stipulates that “no person shall offer any, aid, abet, induce, indulge, engage in offering online money gaming services nor shall involve in any advertisement which directly or indirectly promotes any person to play any online money game.”
