The Canadian government is planning to quickly remove foreign workers and students due to rising opposition. This decision has led to protests involving many people, including Indians, who are expressing their discontent with the situation. Every year, millions of individuals from around the world travel to Canada for education, jobs, and opportunities. A significant number of these newcomers are from India, contributing to the diverse workforce. However, the Canadian government believes that the influx of foreign nationals may negatively impact its citizens.
As a result, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that a new plan has been developed to manage this situation. In response to this announcement, foreign workers and students studying in Canada have strongly opposed it and are protesting across the country. Students have held demonstrations in areas such as Queen’s Park in Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Manitoba.
Students protested while holding banners with messages like “Stop deportation, let us work, let us stay, stop making migrants victims, end racism.” A representative from a student organization stated that the Canadian government’s decision will affect 150,000 students. They mentioned that many are in a situation of being refugees and that several students are planning to move to the United States. Students also expressed concern that many Indians, who are already struggling with debt, will be further impacted by the Canadian government’s decision.
