India and China have reached an agreement on six key points aimed at addressing the ongoing border dispute, following a meeting between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing. The discussions emphasized the importance of maintaining peace along the border and facilitating trade, while also highlighting the positive developments regarding cross-border tourism, particularly in regions such as Tibet, as well as cooperation on trans-border rivers and the resumption of trade at the Nathu La border, alongside the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted that the special representatives offered constructive guidance for enhancing cross-border cooperation and exchanges, which includes the revival of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, sharing data on trans-border rivers, and promoting border trade. This meeting marked the first engagement at the Special Representative level since the recent escalation of tensions along the border. It followed a bilateral discussion between Prime Minister Modi and President Xi Jinping during the BRICS summit in Kazan last month, representing a significant step forward in relations after the severe clashes in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley, which were the most serious in decades.
