Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has reportedly ordered the use of the National Security Act (NSA) against young protesters taking part in demonstrations in the national capital.The Delhi Police Commissioner has been given the authority to arrest protesting youths under the NSA until October 18. Under the Act, a person can be detained for up to one year without a regular trial, subject to the provisions of the law.Students, youths, and members of the Karappanpoochi Janata Party have been continuing their protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, demanding action over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. Police and CRPF personnel reportedly used batons and tear gas to disperse the protesters.The protest has now entered its fourth day. Earlier, two rounds of talks between the authorities and the protesters reportedly failed to reach an agreement. The alleged use of force against the protesting youths has led to further anger and tension. Following the developments, the Delhi Police Commissioner has been given powers to take action against protesters under the National Security Act.
