India’s Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme has been extended to five additional airports: Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Trichy, Kozhikode, and Amritsar. Union Home Minister Amit Shah revealed the expansion, which increases the total number of airports offering this service to 13, including those already in place in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. This initiative streamlines and accelerates the immigration process for qualified pre-verified travelers. Originally launched in 2024, the program is presently accessible to Indian nationals and OCI cardholders, with the goal of significantly cutting down waiting times at airports from as long as 30 minutes to merely a few seconds through the use of biometric e-gates.
To participate in the program, travelers are required to register online at the official portal (ftittp.mha.gov.in.). This registration process entails providing personal information, including biometrics such as fingerprints and facial images, which can be submitted at designated immigration counters at the participating airports or at Foreigners Regional Registration Offices. After completing the registration, passengers can access the e-gates by scanning their boarding pass and passport, and following a brief biometric verification, the gate will open automatically. More than 3 lakh travelers have already signed up for the FTI-TTP, with 2.65 lakh having utilized the facility.
