India has successfully tested the Agni-3 intermediate-range ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha. The missile, which is capable of carrying nuclear warheads, was launched as part of India’s routine defence preparedness programme. Officials said the test met all its objectives and confirmed the reliability of the missile system. Agni-3 has a strike range of about 3,000 to 3,500 kilometres, allowing India to reach distant targets if needed. The Agni-3 is a two-stage missile powered by solid fuel, which helps in faster launch and better storage. After the first stage completes its burn, the second stage ignites and guides the missile accurately toward its target. Defence scientists said all operational and technical parameters performed as expected during the test. The successful launch strengthens India’s strategic deterrence capability and reflects the country’s growing self-reliance in defence technology under the Make in India initiative.
