India is actively engaged in the 63rd session of the Commission for Social Development (CSoCD), taking place from February 10 to 14, under the leadership of Savitri Thakur, the Minister of State for Women and Child Development. The nation has underscored its commitment to fostering social cohesion through the implementation of inclusive policies, the promotion of gender equality, and the establishment of social protection programs.The session, which aims to enhance inclusive social policies, features participation from 49 countries, including ministers from 16 nations.On February 12, Thakur presented India’s position at the Ministerial Forum, focusing on the theme “Strengthening Solidarity and Social Cohesion,” where she commended the Commission’s efforts to ensure that no individual is marginalized. Since the 1995 Copenhagen Summit, India has made significant progress in areas such as poverty alleviation, healthcare improvements, and the development of digital infrastructure.

Thakur highlighted India’s inclusive approach encapsulated in the phrase “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas” (Development for All) and initiatives like the JAM Trinity (Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, Mobile), which aim to enhance financial inclusion, particularly for women, individuals with disabilities, and the elderly.India’s social protection framework includes provisions for 26 weeks of paid maternity leave, support for 37.5 million mothers, and access to early childhood care and education programs for over 100 million individuals. The country advocates for resolutions related to social protection and is dedicated to advancing policies aimed at reducing multidimensional poverty, achieving universal health coverage, and ensuring affordable housing for its citizens.
