US Vice President JD Vance participated in carrying the casket of conservative activist Charlie Kirk alongside other pallbearers on the airport tarmac. They proceeded with the coffin towards Air Force Two. Kirk’s remains were transported from Utah to Phoenix, Arizona, on Thursday. Air Force Two, which is generally designated for official vice presidential travel, was arranged to transport Kirk’s body to Arizona, where funeral services are set to take place. The aircraft arrived in Phoenix following a brief flight from Salt Lake City. Upon their arrival in Arizona, Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, and Vance’s wife, Usha Vance, were observed holding hands as they disembarked from the plane together. Kirk, who was fatally shot during an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, was recognized as a prominent conservative leader. He was shot in the neck during a question-and-answer session in Orem. At the young age of 18, he established Turning Point USA (TPUSA), which is based in Phoenix, with the intention of uniting young individuals in educational institutions who endorsed conservative principles.
Earlier, in his tribute, Vance characterized Kirk as a good man, recalling that he began to pray as soon as he learned about the shooting. “I prayed a lot over the next hour, as first good news and then bad trickled in. The Vice President reminisced about how his friendship with Kirk commenced in 2017. Vance noted that this simple act marked the beginning of a relationship that swiftly evolved into a close friendship that has endured to this day. President Donald Trump also commended Kirk, referring to him as “a great man, and even a legendary one. “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie,” Mr. Trump expressed on his Truth Social account. The FBI is currently probing the incident as a potential political assassination, while the perpetrator remains at large.
