Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana on Monday in Panipat, Haryana, with the objective of empowering over 100,000 women throughout India by providing them with opportunities to serve as LIC agents. Women between the ages of 18 and 70 are now positioned to enhance their financial independence and literacy through this initiative. During the launch event, PM Modi emphasized the necessity of dismantling societal barriers that hinder women’s advancement, stating, “In the past, many tasks were off-limits to women. The BJP is committed to removing every hindrance from our daughters’ paths, enabling them to thrive in all domains.” This statement underscores the government’s commitment to fostering gender equality.

The Prime Minister also drew attention to the significance of December 9, connecting it to both the Bima Sakhi Yojana and India’s historical context. He pointed out that the number 9 holds auspicious connotations in Indian scriptures, representing empowerment and strength through the nine attributes of Goddess Durga. Additionally, December 9 marks the anniversary of India’s inaugural Constituent Assembly meeting. PM Modi praised Haryana for adopting the slogan “Ek Hain Toh Safe Hain” (“When we are united, we are safe”), lauding it as a model of unity and safety that could serve as an inspiration for other states. The launch of this initiative coincided with the International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra, which celebrates the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.
