On Thursday, a group of four astronauts conducted the first private spacewalk in orbit from a SpaceX capsule, as part of the Polaris Dawn mission, while wearing a new line of spacesuits. This event signifies a significant milestone in the realm of private space exploration. According to SpaceX, creating a base on the Moon and a city on Mars will necessitate the production of thousands of these suits.

The development of the new spacesuit and the EVA performed during this mission are important steps for creating spacesuits for future long-term space missions. They released a video showing one of their astronauts, announcing that Commander Jared Isaacman has left the Dragon spacecraft to start the first of three tests aimed at checking his suit’s flexibility.

This mission marks Isaacman’s second journey into space, following his 2021 trip .In this journey joining him on this mission are Scott Poteet, a former US Air Force lieutenant colonel, along with two SpaceX team members, Anna Menon, a lead space operations engineer, and Sarah Gillis, who is responsible for astronaut training.

The objective of the mission is to examine the physiological responses of the human body to the conditions found in deep space. This research will expand upon years of studies carried out with government astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS).Concurrently, the primary purpose of the spacewalk is to evaluate the functionality of the newly developed spacesuits by SpaceX. These suits, designed internally by SpaceX, are intended for a range of missions, encompassing operations in Earth’s orbit and possibly extending to deeper space endeavors.
