US President Donald Trump has called for an immediate end to the Russia-Ukraine war, saying the conflict has badly affected Russia’s diesel and oil-refining industry. In a post on Truth Social on September 21, Trump said many Russian diesel refineries had been damaged and were temporarily out of operation because of the war. He also said that around 25,000 people, mostly soldiers, are being killed each month and argued that the continuing conflict is affecting the whole world. The comments came amid growing concerns over global diesel supplies, as attacks on energy infrastructure in Russia and disruptions in other major oil-producing regions have reduced refining capacity and pushed fuel prices higher. Analysts say the global diesel market is currently facing tight supplies, with shortages potentially continuing into 2027. Trump has also urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to stop attacks on Russian refineries, saying the disruption is contributing to higher fuel prices around the world.
