WhatsApp users in India may soon be able to pay several types of bills directly through the messaging app, making everyday payments more convenient. With support from the government-backed Bharat Connect platform, the service is expected to cover a wide range of bill payment categories.According to the announcement, users can pay bills for electricity, cooking gas, FASTag, insurance, loan instalments and other services through WhatsApp. The platform is said to connect users with more than 22,722 service providers across around 30 categories.Payments can reportedly be made using UPI, debit cards and credit cards, allowing users to complete transactions without switching between multiple apps. Bharat Connect, formerly known as Bharat BillPay, is designed to provide an interoperable system for recurring bill payments across India.WhatsApp has introduced a new bill payment service in India, making everyday payments easier and more convenient.The new facility could make bill payments faster and easier, particularly for people who regularly manage electricity, gas, insurance, FASTag and loan payments. However, users should check the availability of the service on their WhatsApp account and verify the biller and payment details before completing any transaction.
