A special court in Dhaka has sentenced former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to 10 years in prison in a corruption case linked to irregularities in a government housing project. The case relates to the illegal allotment of two residential plots, each measuring 7,200 square feet, under a public housing scheme. The Bangladesh Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case against Sheikh Hasina, her son-in-law Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and other family members, accusing them of violating rules and misusing their positions.

The court, led by Judge Rabiul Alam, gave Sheikh Hasina two separate five-year sentences in two related cases, adding up to 10 years in prison. Radwan Mujib Siddiq and Asmina Siddiq were sentenced to seven years each in both cases, while another accused, Mohammed Kurshid Alam, who surrendered before the court, received a total of two years in prison. All those convicted were also fined 100,000 taka each, with an additional six months in jail if the fine is not paid. Sheikh Hasina has been living in India since August 5, 2025, after leaving Bangladesh following widespread protests, and was declared absconding during the trial.
