The United States President Donald Trump has announced that a planned attack on Iran, which was expected to begin tomorrow, has been stopped for now. The decision came after requests from the leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran began on February 28 after the US and Israel accused Iran of continuing its nuclear weapons program. In response, Iran launched strong counterattacks against Israel and also targeted American military bases located in Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Oman. The Gulf war created major tension around the world and continued for nearly 40 days.

Both sides later agreed to a temporary ceasefire on the 8th of last month, and it is still in effect. However, the situation remains highly tense in the region. Reports say that nearly 6,000 people lost their lives in Iran, Lebanon, Israel, and other Gulf countries during the conflict. Peace has not fully returned because the United States continues to surround Iran’s coastal areas, while Iran has reportedly closed the important Hormuz Strait. Talks between Iran and the US to reach a permanent peace agreement have also not succeeded yet. Because of this, many countries fear that war could break out again at any moment. Recently, Donald Trump posted a warning message on social media, increasing global concern. However, he has now stated that the planned attack on Iran has been paused as diplomatic discussions are continuing. Trump also warned that if peace talks fail, the United States military is fully prepared to launch a large-scale attack on Iran immediately. He did not reveal details about the suspended operation but said the US military has already been instructed to stay ready for action if an acceptable agreement is not reached.
