India-US Economic Relationship Sees Major Growth

The economic relationship between India and the United States has grown significantly, according to US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor. He said that bilateral trade between the two countries has increased from around $20 billion to more than $240 billion, marking a major rise in trade ties. Speaking at the national conference of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) in Mumbai, Sergio Gor said that India-US trade has achieved remarkable growth in just over two decades. He said the nearly 12-fold increase in bilateral trade was not accidental. According to him, India and the US are working closely together across several important sectors.The two countries are particularly strengthening cooperation in areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), technology, space, defence and energy. Both India and the US are aiming to remain leaders in these key sectors while increasing cooperation.Sergio Gor also highlighted the ambitious target of increasing bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030. He described this goal as an important opportunity to further strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

He said US President Donald Trump has strong confidence in India and has focused on strengthening relations between the two countries since the beginning of his administration. According to Gor, this approach has helped accelerate cooperation in advanced areas such as AI, quantum computing, semiconductors, defence and critical minerals.He also pointed to the growing importance of India in the global technology sector. At the global AI summit held in New Delhi, around 90% of the participating companies were from the United States. Gor said the summit being held in India showed the country’s growing role as an important meeting point for taking new technological developments to the next level.The comments highlight the growing partnership between India and the US, particularly in trade, technology, defence, energy and emerging technologies. Both countries are expected to continue expanding their cooperation in the coming years.
