The United States has increased certain immigration-related fees from October 16, 2026, following an inflation-based adjustment announced by US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The changes could affect eligible immigrants, temporary workers, asylum applicants and other individuals applying for specific immigration benefits.According to the official announcement, the annual fee adjustment applies to certain immigration charges established under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The revised fees include an increase in the annual asylum application fee from $102 to $105, the immigration parole fee for certain travel documents from $1,020 to $1,050, and the employment authorisation fee for certain applicants from $560 to $570. The Temporary Protected Status application fee has also increased from $510 to $520.The new fees apply to relevant applications postmarked on or after October 16, 2026. Applications submitted without the correct fee may be rejected. However, these changes do not mean that every US visa application has become more expensive. The adjustments apply to specific immigration-related fees, rather than all visa categories.Indian students, professionals, families and other applicants should check the applicable fee before submitting their applications. Applicants should also be careful about fraudulent agents claiming they can guarantee faster visa approvals or special access to immigration officials.
