Around 2,300 people in Delhi have been diagnosed with H1N1, commonly known as swine flu. With cases increasing rapidly, the Delhi government has stepped up efforts to control the spread of the disease. According to the Delhi Health Department, the number of confirmed H1N1 cases has increased to 2,308. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta held an emergency meeting with health officials to review the situation and discuss measures to control the outbreak. The government has advised people to wear masks in crowded places and maintain good personal hygiene to reduce the risk of infection. Health officials have also said that hospitals have enough beds, doctors and medicines, and that the healthcare system is fully prepared to deal with the situation. People experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, headache, body pain or tiredness have been advised to consult a doctor without delay. The rise in cases is significant compared with the same period last year, when Delhi recorded only 229 H1N1 cases. Health experts have linked the sharp increase to the current monsoon season and changing weather conditions.
