Bank of America Technical Glitch shows Customer account balance zero

A technical issue caused significant distress among numerous Bank of America customers, as their account balances unexpectedly showed as zero. The disruptions commenced around 12:30 PM ET, with Downdetector, a platform that monitors the operational status of various services, indicating a dramatic increase in outage reports, which exceeded 18,000 by 1 PM. The majority of these complaints originated from major metropolitan areas, including New York and Los Angeles. Many customers faced difficulties accessing their accounts or were understandably alarmed to see their balances listed as zero. Consequently, social media became inundated with anxious posts from customers, with some expressing genuine concern that their funds had been stolen or were otherwise lost.Bank of America acknowledged the difficulties encountered by certain customers regarding access to their accounts and balance inquiries. In a communication to multiple news organizations, the bank stated, “Some clients are experiencing an issue accessing their accounts and balance information today. These issues are being addressed and have largely been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.” Nevertheless, the bank did not disclose specific information regarding the cause of the outage or the timeline for the full restoration of their systems.
