In response to intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in collaboration with CRPF personnel, initiated a cordon-and-search operation within a residential neighborhood. An encounter ensued on the morning of November 2 in the Khanyar area of Srinagar when the terrorists engaged the search team with gunfire, leading to a retaliatory response from the security forces. During the exchange, two significant explosions were reported amidst the ongoing crossfire. Security forces have established a stringent cordon around the vicinity to thwart any potential escape by the assailants, and as of now, there have been no reported casualties on either side.
This incident follows closely on the heels of a previous encounter on October 28, where three terrorists were neutralized after they attacked an Army vehicle in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir. In that operation, security forces also confiscated a cache of arms and ammunition from the area.
