Tata-owned Air India has enhanced its operations in the United States by inaugurating a direct flight from Delhi to Newark, New Jersey, effective January 2. This new service will utilize the airline’s premier Airbus A350-900 aircraft, representing a significant advancement in Air India’s presence within the North American aviation sector. This development follows the recent launch of Air India’s A350 service on the Delhi-New York (JFK) route, which commenced on November 1, 2024. By expanding its international route network.Air India seeks to facilitate smoother connections between North America and various destinations in Australia and Southeast Asia via its hubs in Delhi and Mumbai.
Currently, the airline operates a fleet of 298 aircraft, covering 55 domestic destinations and 48 international locations. Air India has announced plans to augment its fleet with an additional 100 aircraft by 2027.In the meantime, the airline will continue to utilize Vistara aircraft for major metropolitan routes and key international destinations, including London and Frankfurt. To commemorate the launch of the new routes to New York (JFK) and Newark (EWR), Air India’s cabin crew engaged in recreating iconic moments from New York City and visited famous film locations, celebrating the airline’s expansion into the U.S. market.
