An Air India flight traveling from Chicago to Delhi was compelled to return to Chicago on March 6 due to a technical malfunction, as confirmed by an airline spokesperson on March 10. The representative elaborated that arrangements were promptly made to assist passengers in reaching their intended destinations. “AI126, which was operating from Chicago to Delhi on March 6, 2025, had to return to Chicago because of a technical issue. After landing, all passengers and crew disembarked safely and were provided with accommodations to alleviate any inconvenience,” the spokesperson remarked.

Passengers were given the option of full refunds and complimentary rescheduling for any cancellations. “We are making alternative arrangements to ensure passengers can continue their journey. Full refunds and complimentary rescheduling are also available for those who choose this option. At Air India, the safety and well-being of our customers and crew are our utmost priority,” the airline emphasized. Reports indicate that the flight turned back while over Greenland after encountering a serious problem with its lavatories, with The New York Post noting that 11 out of the 12 toilets became inoperable, leaving only one functioning lavatory for nearly 300 passengers. Even a few non-functional toilets can necessitate a flight’s return due to the limited bathroom facilities available on board.
