C.P. Radhakrishnan wins the Vice Presidential election with 452 votes

In the election for the Vice President of the Republic, C.P. Radhakrishnan from Tamil Nadu, representing the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), achieved a remarkable victory by securing 452 votes. Subsequently, he is set to assume office as the 15th Vice President of the country. The former Vice President, Jagdeep Dhankhar, resigned from his position citing health reasons. In this context, C.P. Radhakrishnan, the candidate from the ruling party-led National Democratic Alliance, and Sudarshan Reddy, the candidate from the opposition coalition known as ‘INDIA’, have entered the fray for the Vice Presidential election. A total of 12 Members of Parliament (MPs) abstained from voting. As of 5 PM, 767 votes had been recorded. There is currently one vacant seat in the Lok Sabha, which comprises a total of 543 members. Similarly, in the Rajya Sabha, which has 233 members at present, there are 5 vacant seats. As soon as the voting commenced, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first to arrive at the venue and cast his vote. Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, an MP from the secular Janata Dal (JDS), also came to the polling station and voted while seated in a wheelchair.

Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, National President of the party Mallikarjun Kharge, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with central ministers Nitin Gadkari, J.P. Nadda, Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Pralhad Joshi, cast their votes. The voting count… was conducted until 5 PM in the Parliament’s F-101 hall. After the voting concluded, the counting of votes commenced at 6 PM. Out of a total of 782 votes, 767 were recorded, indicating that 98 percent of the votes were registered. The vote count concluded around 7:30 PM, and the results were announced. At the end of the counting, the National Democratic Alliance candidate, C.P. Radhakrishnan, secured 452 votes, while the INDIA alliance candidate received 300 votes. Following this, C.P. Radhakrishnan achieved a significant victory and has been elected as the 15th Vice President of the country. Congratulations are pouring in for him from across the nation. His swearing-in ceremony is expected to take place soon.
