Denmark has initiated the Green Transition Alliance India (GTAI) to enhance its collaboration with India in the realm of sustainable energy and to promote global carbon neutrality. Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, Denmarkâs Ambassador to India, emphasized the critical need for immediate climate action, stating that Danish firms possess significant expertise, while India’s expanding capabilities in sustainable energy are essential to this collaboration. He expressed confidence that their combined efforts would yield impactful and inspiring outcomes for the future. The GTAI has attracted participation from various Danish companies and the IIT Madras Energy Consortium, which will foster innovation and ensure alignment within the industry. As India strives to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070, Denmark, which is ranked fourth in the 2025 Climate Change Performance Index, has set its own target for net-zero emissions by 2045. The GTAI will build upon the foundations laid by the Green Fuels Alliance India and the Wind Alliance India, functioning as a vital platform for key stakeholders involved in the global green transition.
