U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed hope that he will meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un again. South Korean President Lee Jae-myung visited the White House for the first time yesterday. During his remarks, President Trump stated, “Just as South Korean President Lee, who has a progressive policy supporting diplomacy, I also have a stance regarding North Korea. During my first term, I met Kim Jong Un three times. I look forward to seeing him again one day. He treated me very well, and therefore, I hope that negotiations will take place with him this year. I, along with Kim, shared a very cordial relationship during our meetings. This helped to alleviate tensions, but it failed to establish a lasting agreement,” he stated. Following this, South Korean President Lee remarked, “Trump has transformed America from a nation that preserves peace into one that creates it. President Trump, I eagerly await your meeting with Kim Jong Un, the construction of the Trump Tower in North Korea, and your opportunity to play golf there. Kim will also be waiting for you. North Korea could soon produce between 10 to 20 nuclear weapons annually. Despite the pressures and sanctions, they are capable of manufacturing missiles that could strike the United States. “It is a harsh reality that the number of nuclear weapons held by North Korea has increased over the past three to four years,” he stated.
