Eight memorandums of understanding have been signed between India and Mauritius. The highest national honor of Mauritius was conferred upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the country’s President, Prithvirajsing Roopun. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Mauritius yesterday for a two-day visit. On the second day of his trip, he engaged in discussions with former Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and opposition leader Georges Pierre Lesjongard. Following these meetings, a dialogue took place between the Indian delegation led by Prime Minister Modi and a team headed by Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam of Mauritius. Subsequently, President Prithvirajsing Roopun presented the prestigious national award of Mauritius to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.In the midst of heavy rainfall, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the audience after receiving an award, expressed his profound pride in being honored with the prestigious national award from Mauritius.

Modi conveyed his gratitude, stating that this recognition is not only a personal achievement but also a tribute to the 1.4 billion people of India. Furthermore, he emphasized that this award symbolizes the longstanding cultural and historical ties between India and Mauritius, reflecting a deep respect for their shared heritage. Regardless of whether it pertains to the global southern region, the Indian Ocean, or the African continent, Mauritius stands as a significant partner for us. The facilitation of travel for Mauritian citizens to India will enhance our cultural and spiritual connections. We are partners on the path to economic and social advancement. Over the past decade, we have introduced numerous new dimensions to our relationship, establishing new milestones in development cooperation and capacity building. The bonds between our peoples create a robust foundation for our partnership. Collaboration will be strengthened in areas such as digital health, AYUSH centers, skill development, and mobility, all contributing to human development.
