The skies over Punnami Ghat were illuminated in a breathtaking display as Andhra Pradesh hosted India’s largest drone show during the Amaravati Drone Summit 2024. Featuring an impressive fleet of 5,500 drones, the event achieved five Guinness World Records, mesmerizing the thousands of onlookers who gathered along the banks of the Krishna River. The aerial performance showcased a variety of formations, including the national flag, an airplane, and an artistic representation of Lord Buddha. Beyond the record-setting drone display, the two-day summit also included a hackathon, exhibitions, and panel discussions focused on the revolutionary impact of drones in sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, and disaster management.

The event was further enhanced by a laser show and cultural performances, with five designated viewing areas accommodating up to 8,000 attendees. LED screens were strategically placed throughout Vijayawada, and the show was live-streamed to maximize its audience reach. In attendance was Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who expressed his pride and vision for the state’s burgeoning drone industry. He remarked, “This is the dusk that marked the dawn of the drone era in Andhra Pradesh, with the future hovering right above us – and it’s looking bright!”Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu collaborated with the Chief Minister to advocate for Andhra Pradesh as a hub for drone technology testing. During the celebrations, Chief Minister Naidu, accompanied by various officials, presented awards to the leading participants of a drone hackathon. Representatives from Guinness World Records attended the event to formally acknowledge the record-setting accomplishments, bestowing certificates upon the Chief Minister in recognition of the occasion.
