Govindarajan Padmanaban Honored with Vignan Ratna Award

Govindarajan Padmanaban, a popular biochemical scientist from Tamil Nadu, was honored with the country’s highest scientific recognition, the ‘Vignan Ratna’, by President Draupati Murmu yesterday.

Earlier His group researched the therapeutic benefits of the molecule ‘curcumin’ found in turmeric.

He received the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri honors for his work.

He is now the chancellor of Tamil Nadu Central University in Tiruvarur.

Govindarajan Padmanaban, an 86-year-old biochemist from Tamil Nadu, received the ‘Vignan Ratna’ award for lifetime achievement in a ceremony at the President’s House.

National Science Awards were presented in a variety of categories to researchers .

Who excelled in the fields of science, technology, and innovation in the country.

The awards will now be granted in four categories under the name ‘Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar’.

The President presented ‘Vignan Sri’ awards to 13 people on Friday.

Including, Professor Lashmanan Muthusamy of Bharathidasan University in Trichy, Tamil Nadu.

Director Annapoorani Subramaniam of the Indian Astrophysical Institute in Bangalore, Karnataka, and Director Anantharamakrishnan of the Thiruvananthapuram CSIR in Kerala.
