IIT Madras-incubated startup Plenome Technologies, which creates innovative solutions for secure data management on a large scale, has secured ₹6.5 crore in seed funding from both Indian and international investors. The investors include Ovington Capital Partners, a Luxembourg-based investment firm that has taken the lead; AADI, a UAE-based company specializing in the trading and distribution of machinery, plant, and capital equipment; and Manish Gandhi, who has previously invested in notable startups such as ePlane, CynLr, GoStop, LegalKart, and Fermbox. Founded by IIT Madras faculty member Prabhu Rajagopal, Plenome tackles the challenge of creating digital applications that safeguard user privacy and secure records while ensuring interoperability across organizations and regions, facilitating smooth operations at scale. The co-founders include IIT Madras MS (Entrepreneurship) student Vijayaraja Rathinasamy, an expert in embedded systems, and IIT Madras graduate Anirudh Varna, a blockchain specialist.
The startup originated from Mr. Rajagopal’s research group focused on Automation and Data Engineering at IIT Madras’ Center for Nondestructive Evaluation. Plenome’s BlockTrack ‘OraganEase solution’ for managing sensitive organ donation databases is currently undergoing trial runs in collaboration with the leading authority for organ transplants in a South Indian state. Plenome is also at the forefront of a new pay-per-use model for conducting remote elections in large organizations, utilizing its record-setting blockchain-based ‘BlockVote’ software. This software has already been successfully implemented for the IIT Madras student elections. Furthermore, Plenome is running trial runs of ‘Ashwin’, a suite of AI-driven platforms for electronic data capture, record maintenance, and insight generation in the dental field within healthcare, with plans to expand this to eyecare, cosmetic, and fertility sectors. Ashwin provides voice-enabled electronic data capture through input in various Indic and foreign languages.
