The ongoing war between the United States and Iran has caused major financial losses for the US military. According to a report by the US Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the US military has spent around ₹3.65 lakh crore in just five months due to the Iran conflict. The report said that the US military has used advanced missiles, bombs, drones and other military equipment during attacks against Iran. In one major operation, more than 50 Tomahawk missiles were reportedly used. Each Tomahawk missile costs around $3.64 million, or about ₹30.6 crore.The United States has also spent large amounts on drones, cybersecurity, intelligence operations and other military activities. Some US military and weapons facilities in Gulf countries were damaged during Iranian attacks, creating additional costs for repairs and rebuilding.More than 340 US fighter aircraft have reportedly been involved in the Iran war, while several warships have been deployed in the Middle East.
The US has also purchased additional missiles, bombs and other weapons to support its military operations.According to the CBO report, the Iran war has cost the US military around ₹3.65 lakh crore over the past five months. If the conflict continues, the US military could face an additional cost of around ₹28,767 crore every month.The conflict is also affecting fuel and energy prices. Petrol, diesel and gas prices have increased significantly, which is contributing to higher prices for essential goods in the United States.Rising prices are putting pressure on American households and increasing inflation. The report also warned that continued inflation could add to the US government’s debt burden.The findings highlight the high financial cost of the Iran war for the US military and the wider US economy.
