On Monday, Jagdeep Dhankhar announced his resignation from the position of Vice President, citing health concerns and the necessity to adhere to medical recommendations. In his resignation letter, he stated that the choice was made to “prioritise health care” due to ongoing health challenges. “To prioritise health care and comply with medical advice, I hereby resign as the Vice President of India, effective immediately, in accordance with Article 67(a) of the Constitution,” Dhankhar wrote in a letter directed to President Droupadi Murmu. In his resignation letter, Dhankhar conveyed his appreciation to the President for her “unwavering support” and characterized their professional relationship as “soothing and wonderful.” He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the council of ministers for their collaboration, referring to the Prime Minister’s support as “invaluable.” “The warmth, trust, and affection I have received from all the Hon’ble Members of Parliament will always be cherished and ingrained in my memory,” he wrote, reminiscing about his time as Vice President. Dhankhar further remarked that it had been an honor to observe India’s “remarkable economic progress” and “unprecedented exponential development” throughout his tenure. As he resigns, he expressed “unwavering confidence” in the country’s future, describing Bharat’s ascent on the global stage as “phenomenal.”
