The Supreme Court bench, led by Chief Justice P.R. Kavai, convened yesterday to deliberate on the case. During this session, lawyer Rakesh Kishore removed his shoe and hurled it at Chief Justice P.R. Gavai. However, it is reported that the shoe did not make contact with him. He was subsequently taken into custody by the police. Following an interrogation, the police released him. Subsequently, the Bar Council decided to suspend him. This incident created a significant uproar for a period of time. The hearing was momentarily disrupted. In the meantime, Kishore reportedly shouted slogans declaring, “Insulting Sanatana Dharma cannot be tolerated.” Chief Justice Kawai responded, “Do not allow this to distract you. Such matters do not affect me.” In a public interest litigation submitted to the Supreme Court by Rakesh Dalal, he requested an order to “reconstruct the damaged Vishnu statue in the Jawari temple located in Madhya Pradesh.” This petition was brought before a bench led by Chief Justice P.R. Kawai last month. At that time, the Chief Justice remarked, “Inquire of the deity himself regarding the reconstruction of the statue,” and subsequently dismissed the petition.
