Anticipation for Netflix’s forthcoming series, Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, has significantly increased following the appearance of former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly in a promotional video released ahead of its premiere on March 20. In the widely shared promo, Ganguly is seen in a police uniform, brandishing a baton, and playfully demonstrating his cricket skills while interrogating a suspect during an audition for the crime thriller. The video introduces him as “The Bengal Tiger,” which has further heightened viewer interest. Ganguly expressed his excitement by stating, “As someone who has a deep appreciation for thrillers and cop dramas, Khakee as a franchise stands out as one of my favorites. Collaborating with Netflix has been a true pleasure.” Directed by Debatma Mandal and Tushar Kanti Ray, the series centers on an IPS officer confronting crime, corruption, and political power in Kolkata during the early 2000s. Co-written by Neeraj Pandey, it features prominent figures from Bengali cinema, including Prosenjit Chatterjee, Jeet, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, and Saswata Chatterjee. Notably, this series marks the first Hindi drama to showcase an entirely Bengali cast. Khakee: The Bengal Chapter is set to debut on March 20.
