Rini Sampath, a 31-year-old government contractor born in Tamil Nadu, has announced her candidacy in the Democratic primary race for Mayor of Washington, DC. She officially launched her campaign on February 18, to promising “fix the basics” and restore confidence in city governance. She was Born in Theni, Tamil Nadu, and moved to the United States at the age of seven. She has lived in Washington, DC for more than a decade.She works as a federal contractor and says she has spent her career improving government programs and public services.Now, she is running for Mayor of Washington, DC .she is focusing on infrastructure, public safety response times, lowering the cost of living, and improving essential city services. Her campaign slogan states: “A City Where We Fix the Basics, Strengthen Our Neighborhoods, and Lower the Cost of Living. It’s Time for Something New.” she hopes to bring fresh leadership and practical solutions to Washington, DC.
