A large landslide collapsed the power station of the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation’s Teesta Stage 5 dam in Sikkim on Today morning.
The mountain close to the 510 MW power station was under in danger due to several minor slides in recent weeks.
On Tuesday morning, a large part of the hill slid, covering the power station in debris.
The tragedy resulted in no injuries or casualties, as the power station had been evacuated a few days before due to frequent landslides.

A piece of the cliff can be seen falling before a large portion of it falls on top of the power station.
In October 2023, the Lhonak glacier lake broke due to a cloudburst in Sikkim, making the Stage 5 dam useless.
The cloudburst caused an enormous flash flood that washed out parts of the Teesta Dam at Chungthang, the largest hydroelectric power in Sikkim.
