In the Thane district of Maharashtra, four passengers lost their lives after falling from a crowded train, while six others were admitted to hospitals with injuries. According to a police officer, the incident occurred between the Diva and Koper railway stations at around 9:30 AM this morning, as the train was heading towards Kasara. Railway officials have suggested that the incident may have happened due to the jostling of passengers traveling on the steps of the two trains, which were moving in opposite directions. While the train was in motion, it was reported that at least 10 passengers fell below, and the guard of the train heading towards Kashara informed the railway officials about this incident. The railway administration and the police have rushed to the scene. All the passengers who fell were taken to the government hospital in Kalvakkam. The doctors who examined them reported that four of them had died on the way. The deceased were aged between 30 and 35 years. The police are conducting an investigation into the accident.The Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, has issued a statement regarding this incident, stating, “Thousands of passengers travel on this route every morning. This is a very tragic event. I share the grief of the families of the deceased. Medical assistance has been promptly provided to the injured. The hospital administration has been instructed to offer urgent and comprehensive treatment. An inquiry by the railway authorities has been initiated regarding this accident. This is indeed an unfortunate incident, and the exact cause of the accident will soon be revealed through this investigation.”Following the train accident involving the Mumbai local train, the Railway Board has announced that all train coaches being produced for the Mumbai suburban railway station will be equipped with automatic door closing features. The Railway Board has also stated that all currently operational train coaches will be retrofitted to include this door closing facility.
