Dr. S. Jaishankar’s visit to the U.S. for President-elect Trump’s oath taking ceremony

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that Dr. S. Jaishankar will engage with representatives of the incoming administration during his visit. He is set to represent India at the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump on January 20. In a statement released on Sunday, the MEA indicated, “At the invitation of the Trump-Vance inaugural committee, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will represent the Government of India at the swearing-in ceremony of Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States.” Furthermore, the MEA noted that during this visit, the External Affairs Minister will hold discussions with members of the incoming administration, as well as with other dignitaries attending the event. Prior to this, Jaishankar had traveled to the United States in the last week of December, where he met with Mike Waltz, the National Security Advisor-designate for the incoming Trump administration.
