Following Donald Trump’s inauguration as President of the United States for a second term, various rights and privileges of foreign residents in the country are being revoked. In this context, the United States has issued a warning to Indians stating that failure to leave the country after the expiration of their visa may result in deportation. Accordingly, the U.S. government has cautioned that overstaying a visa could lead to deportation and impose a permanent ban on re-entry for Indians who do not depart after their visa has expired. In relation to this, the American Embassy in India has stated on its official website that if you (Indians) remain in the United States beyond the permitted duration of your stay, you may face deportation and encounter a permanent ban on future travel to the United States. Given that over 47.8 million foreign nationals are legally employed in the U.S., this new announcement from Trump has left the 4.5 million Indians residing there in shock.
