For the first time in American history, a new rule will allow the signature of President Donald Trump to appear on U.S. currency notes. Until now, U.S. dollar notes have only carried the signatures of the Treasury Secretary and the Treasurer. In recent times, Trump has also made changes to national cultural institutions and even named new warships after himself. Now, as part of the celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary, plans were also approved to release a 24-carat gold coin featuring the President’s image. In this context, the United States Department of the Treasury has announced that all newly printed dollar notes will include Trump’s signature along with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s signature. This marks the first time a sitting U.S. President’s signature will appear on currency. Officials say this move recognizes the country’s achievements and honors the President. However, the decision has also sparked criticism, with some people opposing the new change.
