The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has broadened its visa-on-arrival program for Indian citizens by adding travelers who possess valid visas, residence permits, or Green Cards from six additional countries to the eligibility criteria. This expansion allows a greater number of Indian passport holders to utilize the visa-on-arrival services at UAE entry points. Under the new directive, Indian nationals holding valid visas, residence permits, or Green Cards from Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada will now be able to access the visa-on-arrival facility in the UAE. Previously, this policy was already in place for Indian citizens with valid documentation from the United States, European Union member states, and the United Kingdom. To qualify for this program, Indian nationals must adhere to the UAE’s requirements, which include possessing a valid ordinary passport with a minimum of six months’ validity from the date of entry.

Additionally, travelers must have a valid visa, residence permit, or Green Card from one of the specified eligible countries. Upon meeting these conditions, individuals will be required to pay the visa fee upon arrival at UAE immigration checkpoints. The UAE has established three categories for eligible Indian travelers, each with a nominal visa fee. A 4-day visa will cost Dh100 (approximately Rs 2,270), while a 14-day extension will require a payment of Dh250 (approximately Rs 5,670). There is also a 60-day visa available for the same fee of Dh250 (approximately Rs 5,670). Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the UAE’s Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), stated that this initiative to grant visas on arrival to Indian nationals from certain countries is in line with the long-term strategic partnership between Abu Dhabi and New Delhi.
