The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the immediate suspension of all trade and financial transactions with Iran until further notice. The decision comes amid continuing tensions in the Middle East.According to the UAE, the decision was taken after its security forces detected two advanced missiles launched from Iran toward areas near Gulf shipping routes. The UAE said the missiles were aimed at maritime traffic near its regional waters. It also claimed that Iran had launched a missile attack on the UAE two days earlier. However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry has strongly denied the UAE’s allegations and rejected claims that it launched missiles toward the UAE.  Despite Iran’s denial, the UAE has decided to stop all trade and financial transactions with the country. The sudden move could have a major impact on the economic relationship between the two nations, which involves billions of dollars in trade every year. Around 30% of Iran’s imported goods reportedly pass through the UAE. The UAE also plays an important role as a major financial and trading hub for Iran. Therefore, the suspension could significantly affect Iran’s imports, businesses and financial activities.
