The 77th Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path concluded with a grand celebration of India’s Constitution, unity, and national strength. The event marked the day when the Constitution of India came into force in 1950, making the country a sovereign and democratic republic. This year’s celebrations were special as they also marked the 150th anniversary of the national song “Vande Mataram,” whose spirit was seen throughout the parade. The celebrations began with the arrival of the President and the unfurling of the national flag. This was followed by well-organised march-pasts, colourful tableaux from different states, and impressive displays by the armed forces, showing India’s cultural diversity and defence capabilities. The presence of two European Union leaders as chief guests highlighted India’s growing global relationships. The parade also featured several first-time highlights, including the display of the Suryastra system, the Bhairav Battalion, and Bactrian camels. The celebrations ended with a spectacular flypast of 29 aircraft, including Rafale fighter jets and LCH Prachand helicopters, bringing the 77th Republic Day celebrations to a powerful and memorable close.
