Tech giant Apple has announced that Sabih Khan will assume the role of its next Chief Operating Officer (COO) later this month. This decision is part of a carefully planned leadership transition, as confirmed by the company. Khan will succeed Jeff Williams, who has held the position of Apple’s COO since 2015. Williams will remain with Apple, overseeing the design team, Apple Watch, and health initiatives, while reporting directly to CEO Tim Cook. Sabih Khan was born in 1966 in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, and relocated to Singapore during his school years. He subsequently moved to the United States for higher education, where he obtained dual bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering and economics from Tufts University, followed by a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).

Before joining Apple in 1995, Khan worked at GE Plastics (now SABIC) as an applications development engineer. Throughout his tenure, he has played a pivotal role in shaping Apple’s global operations. In 2019, he was elevated to Senior Vice President of Operations, directly reporting to Jeff Williams. He is widely recognized for his contributions to building a resilient global supply chain for Apple. CEO Tim Cook has commended Khan as a “brilliant strategist” and a vital contributor to the company’s success. “Sabih has been one of the central architects of Apple’s supply chain,” Cook stated. “He leads with his heart and values, and I am confident he will be an outstanding COO.” With Khan leading operations, Apple is anticipated to continue its emphasis on sustainability, innovation in manufacturing, and global adaptability. His appointment signifies Apple’s ongoing commitment to eco-conscious technology leadership and enhanced supply chain resilience.
