Time has released its 2026 Women of the Year list, honoring women leaders from around the world who are making a strong impact in society. This year, three women of Indian origin — Safeena Husain, Reshma Saujani, and Reshma Kewalramani — have been included for their outstanding work in education, economic policy, and biotechnology. The list celebrates women who are bringing positive change through leadership and innovation. Safeena Husain was recognized for her nonprofit Educate Girls, which works to bring girls in rural India back to school. The organization has helped over 1.5 million girls return to classrooms and now aims to reach 10 million girls by 2035. Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code and Moms First, was honored for her campaign to address the childcare crisis in the United States, leading to a $1.7 billion investment in childcare in New York. Dr. Reshma Kewalramani, CEO of Vertex Pharmaceuticals, was praised for leading major medical breakthroughs, including the first CRISPR-based gene-editing treatment for sickle-cell disease and improving care for cystic fibrosis patients worldwide. The list also includes artists Teyana Taylor and Brandi Carlile, along with Pakistani lawyer Mahnoor Omer for her campaign against period tax.
