The Chief of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), V. Narayanan, spoke with the media on Thursday in Coimbatore, revealing that a half-humanoid named Vyommitra will be launched this December instead of a human. “Currently, we are in the advanced stage… This December, we intend to send the first uncrewed mission, which will feature a half-humanoid called Vyommitra rather than a human. Following the success of this mission, we will complete two additional uncrewed missions next year,” stated the ISRO Chief. Further discussing the ‘Gaganyatri’, V. Narayanan remarked, “By the first quarter of 2027, we plan to send our own ‘Gaganyatri’ into space and ensure its safe return. The crew for Gaganyaan has already been selected, undergone training, and we are in the process of preparing for our mission.” Additionally, ISRO has successfully executed its first Integrated Air Drop Test (IADT-01), which represents a significant milestone in the preparations for India’s Gaganyaan Mission. ISRO reported that the successful trial was a collaborative initiative involving various defence and research organisations, including the Indian Air Force, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Indian Navy, and the Indian Coast Guard.
