Tensions between the United States and China have continued for several years due to an ongoing trade war. China has also strongly criticized the military attacks carried out by the US and Israel against Iran. Amid this situation, US President Donald Trump visited China on a three-day official trip last Wednesday. During the visit, President Trump met Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The two leaders held discussions on several important issues, including the Iran conflict, trade disputes between the US and China, and the Taiwan issue.
During the talks, Xi Jinping openly warned that if the United States mishandles the Taiwan issue, it could lead to a direct confrontation between the two countries. However, the White House later stated that both leaders agreed on the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open. President Trump returned to the United States yesterday after completing his China visit. At a farewell meeting held in Beijing, Xi Jinping described Trump’s visit as “historically significant” and said it had created a new vision for building a constructive relationship between the two nations. During the meeting, Trump also invited Xi Jinping and his wife to visit the United States. Reports suggest that Xi Jinping is expected to travel to the US on September 24.
