On February 11, the American Sikh Caucus Committee, the American Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, and the Sikh Coordination Committee East Coast made an urgent appeal to President Donald Trump, urging him to address the intimidation and threats posed by foreign governments against Americans on U.S. soil, with a particular focus on Sikh Americans who are experiencing pressure from India. Pritpal Singh, the Founder of the American Sikh Caucus Committee, emphasized in a press release, “As tax-paying Americans, we demand safety for all citizens on American soil. No foreign government should have the authority to invade our nation and intimidate our people.” He further expressed concern for the community, stating, “We bleed red and back the blue, but right now, our community is being targeted. We need action.” This appeal coincides with the first meeting between President Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi under the current administration.

Himmat Singh of the SCCEC articulated the urgency of the situation, asserting, “The message is clear: India must cease its threats against Americans, whether through direct actions, as evidenced by the foiled plot involving Nikhil Gupta, or through the rhetoric of non-governmental organizations associated with the Indian government.” Gupta, who is currently detained in a New York jail, faces allegations of attempting to hire an undercover U.S. federal agent to assassinate Sikh American leaders, a case that implicates officials connected to Modi’s administration. In light of these developments, Sikh American leaders are advocating for enhanced protection from the U.S. government. A spokesperson stated, “We urge President Trump to ensure that the FBI and DHS take measures to protect the Sikh American community from foreign threats. This invisible invasion of foreign agents represents a growing national security crisis, undermining American sovereignty and jeopardizing public safety.”
